Swimming, Swim Instruction, Suntan Lotion & Activities
Reminder to print and sign this form signed and returned before your camper can swim:
Swimming Permission Form
Every camper will have a swimming evaluation test INCLUDING CAMPERS IN TEEN QUEST CAMP.
After they have been evaluated prior to entering the pool they will be given a colored bracelet designating their abilities and in what section they will be allowed to swim.
They will be supervised by lifeguards and staff both in and out of the water.
Swim instruction: will be provided on a very limited basis to beginners only if they agree to take the swim test. Those who don’t will not be allowed to swim. Campers will only be swimming with campers their own age and swimming ability.
Apply suntan lotion at home! We prefer not to apply it at camp and we strongly suggest your camper wear or bring with them a swim shirt. Send suntan lotion in your camper’s bag if you wish.
We also suggest you send them along with water shoes, crocs or flip flops. Do not buy expensive ones and MARK EVERYTHING INCLUDING TOWELS WITH YOUR CAMPERS FULL NAME AND GROUP ASSIGNMENT!
Pioneers: Pool 4-5 Days per week & Sprinkler Park 1 day per week.
Adventures: Pool 5 days per week
Stars: Pool 5 days per week
Explorers: Pool 5 days per week
Teens: 5 days per week.
Activities: Every camper has an activity schedule for the entire summer. It is structured to their age, gender and individual camp division. We schedule both indoor and outdoor activities and try to stagger them as much as possible.
All indoor facilities are climate controlled.
All activities including swimming are about 45 minutes in length.
2021 Update: BAD WEATHER DAYS SUCH AS RAIN WILL NECESSITATE CHANGING THE SCHEDULE FOR THE DAY. AS THERE ARE NO TRIPS, NO CAMPERS WILL BE LEAVING THE BUILDING. NOTE THAT THERE WILL LARGER NUMBERS OF CAMPERS AND STAFF INDOORS AT THE SAME TIME.
All activities including swimming are modified when needed to account for the weather. Encourage your camper to participate in ALL the activities. Don’t worry if your camper isn’t in the mood, we always have staff that can find something to do with them, but remember they will always be with their groups at all times.
Calling The Camp Office
VERY IMPORTANT! WE CANNOT SPEAK WITH ANYONE NOT GIVING THEIR NAME, RELATION TO A CAMPER AND REASON FOR CALLING!
When calling, make sure to let us you know who you are and the name of your camper(s).
Please note that the office staff are the ones who can help you in almost ALL cases. Camp directorial staff will not be coming to the phone during the day as they will be busy with camp programming. Calls that are to be returned will be done after the camp day has ended or as soon as it is possible to do so.
Parking In The Camp Lot In The Evening
AS WE APPROACH THE START OF CAMP ON JUNE 28 HERE ARE SOME SUGGESTIONS AND RULES REGARDING THE DROPPING AND PICKING UP OF YOUR CAMPERS ALONG WITH PARKING IN OUR PARKING LOT
AS THIS IS THE FIRST SUMMER THAT WE ARE DOING DROP OFF AND PICK UP ONLY WITH A FULL REGISTRATION, THE PARKING LOT, WHICH HAS BEEN FULL TO CAPACITY IN YEARS PAST WHEN WE OFFERED BUS SERVICE, WILL BE EVEN MORE DIFFICULT TO MANAGE THIS SUMMER UNLESS WE WORK TOGETHER.
THE FIRST THING IS TO PLEASE BE PATIENT. IT WILL TAKE SEVERAL DAYS FOR EVERYONE TO GET ACCUSTOMED TO MORNING ARRIVAL AND AFTERNOON DEPARTURE.
IN THE MORNING FOR REGULAR DROP-OFF (8:15 AM) IF YOU ARE WALKING YOUR CAMPER IN, TO THEIR GROUP, PLEASE DO SO AND EXIT THE PARKING LOT AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN. EVERYONE WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF THE SPACES COULD BE FREED UP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
IN THE AFTERNOON PICK UP (4:10 PM), PLEASE PICK UP YOUR CAMPER(S) AND EXIT THE BUILDING AND LOT AS SOON AS YOU CAN. LESS CONGESTION IS ALSO SAFER FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED.
DO NOT EVER DOUBLE PARK IN THE LOT OR BLOCK ANYONE ELSE IN.
IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO PARK IN THE LOT AND WOULD PREFER TO PARK IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD STREETS, PLEASE DO NOT BLOCK ANYONE’S DRIVEWAY. I CAN TELL YOU FROM EXPERIENCE THAT NOT ONLY WILL YOU BE TICKETED, BUT YOU MAY BE TOWED AWAY AS WELL. EVEN IF YOU PARK THERE FOR A FEW MINUTES, IT IS NOT PERMISSIBLE.
THE FIRST THING I WOULD LIKE TO SUGGEST IS TO CARPOOL WITH FRIENDS, FAMILY OR ANYONE ELSE YOU MAY KNOW THAT IS ATTENDING CAMP. IT WOULD HELP EVERYONE CONCERNED AND DEFINITELY MAKE IT EASIER ON EVERYONE, ESPECIALLY IN THE AFTERNOON PICKUP. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS STRONGLY ENOUGH.
IF YOU ARE ABLE TO DO THIS, PLEASE MAKE SURE WE KNOW EVERYONE THAT IS GOING TO BE PICKING UP YOUR CAMPERS SO THAT WE ARE ABLE TO RELEASE YOUR CHILD TO THEM. THERE CAN BE AS MANY AS YOU WISH ON THE LIST. YOU CAN CALL OR EMAIL THE OFFICE TO ADD ANY AND ALL PERSONS AUTHORIZED TO PICK UP YOUR CAMPER(S).
COVID Procedures & Rules
TEST & TRACE!
ADULTS: ALL ADULTS MUST WEAR MASKS WHEN ENTERING THE BUILDING. WE CANNOT ALLOW ANYONE ENTERING THE FACILITY TO DO SO WITHOUT A MASK OR FACE-COVERING!
CAMPERS: AT THIS TIME, NYC IS NOT REQUIRING CAMPERS TO WEAR MASKS AT ANY TIME. IF YOU WOULD LIKE YOUR CAMPERS TO WEAR ONE DURING THE CAMP DAY, PLEASE SUBMIT THIS FORM:
ARRIVING: A NORMAL TEMPERATURE READING IS 98.6 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. AT THE TIME OF THE READING, ANY CAMPER WITH A TEMPERATURE HIGHER THAT 100.3 WILL HAVE TO WAIT 5 MINUTES AND THEN HAVE THEIR TEMPERATURE TAKEN AGAIN.
IF THE READING IS LOWER, THE CAMPER WILL BE SIGNED INTO CAMP FOR THE DAY. IF THE TEMPERATURE READS 100.3 OR ABOVE AFTER A SECOND CHECK, THE CAMPER WILL NOT BE ADMITTED TO CAMP AND WILL REQUIRE WRITTEN MEDICAL CLEARANCE FROM THEIR DOCTOR.
STAFF: WILL BE WEARING MASKS. EVERY STAFF MEMBER WILL BE TEMPERATURE SCREENED BY DIRECTORIAL STAFF USING A NON-CONTACT THERMOMETER. THE SAME RULES LISTED ABOVE FOR CAMPERS APPLY TO STAFF WITH REGARD TO FREQUENCY AND RESULTS.
THEY WILL SIGN A DOCUMENT STATING EACH MORNING PRIOR TO THE START OF THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES THAT TO THE BEST OF THEIR KNOWLEDGE, THEY ARE FEELING WELL AND EXHIBITING NO SIGNS OF ILLNESS OR COVID-19. CAMP STAFF WILL WEAR MASKS AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE AS LONG AS IT DOES NOT POSE A HEALTH RISK TO THEMSELVES.
LIFEGUARDS WILL NOT BE WEARING MASKS WHILE ON DUTY.
ALL CAMP STAFF NOT DOING SO WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO WORK.
IMPORTANT NOTE! IF A CAMPER OR STAFF MEMBER HAS A HIGH READING AND IS SUSPECTED OF BEING ILL WITH SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19, THE CAMP HAS THE RIGHT TO ASK THE FAMILY ABOUT THEIR RECENT CONTACT WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILIES. WE ARE MANDATED BY THE NEW YORK CITY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO REPORT SUCH FINDINGS.
